Our Community

Part of our community

Austin might be where we welcome visitors to Tamworth, but this is our home too.

Over the years, we've been lucky enough to work alongside and support a number of local community organisations, often by inviting them into the park to help with BBQs, events and gatherings. Groups including Tamworth West Rotary, Sunrise Rotary, Tamworth City Lions Club and Kootingal Lions Club have all been part of the Austin story.

We've also proudly sponsored the Kootingal Lions Art Show for the past three years and supported organisations including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Sometimes that community connection becomes particularly important.

During the drought that affected our region from 2018 to 2020, our 2019 and 2020 Country Music Festival Welcome Concerts supported Doing It For Our Farmers. Together with our guests and community, we raised funds and collected practical donations for farming families doing it tough — including, as we still remember, a couple of pairs of boots.

For us, supporting our community doesn't always need to be something enormous. Sometimes it's providing a place. Sometimes it's firing up the BBQ. Sometimes it's raising money, collecting something useful, donating what we can or simply bringing the right people together. It's also why we try to find another home for things that still have some life left in them. Used guest soaps are collected through Soap Aid for recycling, while glass jars, sauce bottles, clothing and other useful items left behind by guests are redirected through a local Red Cross volunteer wherever possible.

We're a tourist park, but we're also part of a community.

And we reckon being a good neighbour matters.
